Don’t Waste your Time and Money on Landing Pages

Since I seem to be babbling a lot about affiliate marketing lately, I thought I’d touch on a particularly important part of the AM business: Landing Pages.

What’s a landing page?

If you don’t know what landing pages are (and it took me awhile to figure it out back when I was a total newbie), they’re essentially web pages that exist to promote a product or service. Your ads lead potential customers to your landing page, and then your landing page (hopefully) sends them to the offer you are promoting where they will buy it, making you money. That’s the theory anyway.

Creating a landing page

Landing page construction is a tricky topic in the AM world. Everybody seems to have their own style, and everybody will tell you how they think landing pages should look. Even after you settle on a particular style, you still have to create the page, which could take hours of coding, not including time spent working in Photoshop to design images. Really, you want your landing page to be perfect, and that guarantees a lot of time spent working. If your page doesn’t immediately catch your audience’s attention, they’ll go someplace else. It’s enough to keep people up at night.

Of course, if you don’t want to worry about it, you can always hire a pro with a proven method. That’ll set you back anywhere between $10 to $50 per page.

But Geoff, I’m cheap and lazy

Lucky for you, there’s a third option: Have someone do it for free. Imagine my surprise when I found out that the good folks over at Copeac will build you your own landing pages for free. Of course, you have to use it to promote one of their offers, but that’s beside the point. They have plenty of good campaigns to choose from anyway.

I didn’t even know that they offered this service until my affiliate manager called me the other day. He wanted to discuss my goals, and when I told him that I’m a total newbie to the world of affiliate marketing, he told me that their graphics department could design landing pages for me. That solves one problem. I emailed him yesterday to ask if they could provide me with a sample page, and I wasn’t disappointed. Here’s what he sent me - a landing page for ringtones. Color me impressed.

So that solves one problem in my quest to become a better affiliate marketer. I plan on making extensive use of Copeac’s landing page creation service, and I’ll be sure to let you guys know if I have any success with it.

wow. That is a phenomenal resource. Landing pages are TOUGH to get just right. So far with the niche’s i’ve chosen I have not had ANY luck with a finding a good landing page, that leads to click throughs. I’ve had much better luck direct linking, or iframing.
