About this site...

I can't get rich online and neither can you. Topics include why you won't get rich with your blog, ideas you wish you had thought of, and other Internet phenomena.

Don't kid yourself...

You want to get rich with your blog? Maybe you think Adsense will let you retire? Sorry, it's not going to happen.

Slight Change of Direction

When I started this blog, I was really, really frustrated: People seemed to think that, because of a handful of successful bloggers, anybody could make money online. I started this site with the goal of proving otherwise, and so far I’ve been successful: I’m not rich, I still think Adsense is crap to put on a blog, and I still think nobody is ever going to make as much with their blog as John Chow.

But you know what? I was naive to think that a blog was the only way to make money online. In the time since I started this blog, I’ve become deeply interested in, and involved with something new: Affiliate marketing. Landing pages, SEO, PPC, all of it is really interesting to me. Here’s where this blog is going to change direction a bit: You may have noticed that I’m writing more frequently about AM. Well, I’m going to keep doing it. I’ll still be doing ReviewUs, and I’ll still be preaching that making money online isn’t as easy as some people make it out to be, but I’ll also be talking a lot more about my successes and failures in the AM world. Hope you guys don’t mind.

Even if you do mind, I’m still doing it anyway. Ha.

I think it’s awesome, I think it’s a great idea, but personally I think I suck at it. I know that I could really kick ass with MouthyGirl.com, it really has the potential for great things, but I suck at it. My cowriter doesn’t blog very often and knows nothing of online marketing despite her marketing degree.

On a side note, that should really be incorporated into a marketing/advertising course structure in college don’t you think?

Regardless, I’ll be glad to read your posts and learn form them. All the other bloggers that are into AM have been in it for a while so they already know a lot more about it than me. I don’t mind learning with you.

I don’t think anyone will every hit the stratosphere like John Chow, however I have stopped reading him. I was an everyday reader for about six months, but grew bored of the food and the sell out nature of his posts.
